Born was responsible for creating the new name and identity for Fórum Barreiro. This change marks a new phase in the shopping centre's strategy, keeping pace with the city's evolution.

A new, simple and direct identity, in line with the city's heritage.

Through an immersive process, with visits to the space and conversations with Barreiro residents, Born developed the name ‘Barra Shopping’. A simple and direct name, designed to be easily recognised and adopted by residents. It maintains the connection to the territory and reinforces the idea of a space that is part of the city's daily life. The new identity combines the red associated with Barreiro's DNA with a contemporary purple that symbolises creativity. The symbol represents the letter ‘B’ in an abstract form, translating the connection between the city's industrial past and its future.

A new strategy.

With an investment of over three million euros, Sonae Sierra has focused on improving the infrastructure and comfort of the space. This new phase of the Shopping Centre represents the renewal of the tenant mix. Examples of this are the new Loja do Cidadão and brands such as Wells, Portugália, A Padaria Portuguesa and Celeiro. By 2026, brands such as Normal and H3 are expected to join the existing offering, reinforcing Barra Shopping's role in meeting the daily needs of Barreiro's residents.

A shopping centre in line with Barreiro's evolution.

This change also accompanies the moment of strong evolution that the city is undergoing. The arrival of new public and private investments, the enhancement of the riverfront, cultural consolidation and the redevelopment of various urban spaces create the ideal context for the rebirth of the shopping centre. As Paulo Silva, director of Barra Shopping, sums up:
‘Barreiro is growing, transforming and attracting new people and dynamics. Our goal is to integrate this evolution and offer the city a centre that is worthy of its present and its future. We listened to visitors, we were demanding of ourselves and we realised that it was time to take a new step.’
